Christmas Parade Announcement and Directions:
The Cherryville Christmas Parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014. The parade will assemble down E. Main Street beginning at Depot Street and parts of First Street into Nixon Gym parking area. The parade will officially begin at the intersection of Depot Street and E. Main Street where it will run through Main Street until turning right onto Mulberry Street then proceeding to making a right onto First Street and will end at the intersection of First St. and Cherry St.
The City of Cherryville will allow parking at the First Baptist Church parking lot. However, due to safety concerns of parade participants the City of Cherryville will block off the parking lot as the parade begins and not to allow anyone to leave until the parade has completely ended. After the parade has ended safely cars will be allowed to leave the First Baptist Church parking lot.
Parade Staff will also block the intersection of First St. and Pink St. up to the intersection of First St. and Cherry St. to prevent excessive traffic while parade participates unload and children are picked up by their responsible guardian. Anyone needing to pick up a parade participant will need to walk to the designated drop off area somewhere along First Street and walk back to their car. The parade staff will notify every registered participant who will then be responsible for letting their organization know of their assigned pickup location.
We have experienced a few near miss incidents during the past couple parades. These extra safety efforts are to protect all involved, especially young children. Thank you for your cooperation.
